Can a Torn Tautliner Curtain Be Repaired?
Most curtain damage is repairable. The deciding factors are where the tear is, how long it is, and the condition of the surrounding fabric.
Repairable in most cases
Clean tears, punctures, forklift strikes, failed seams, pulled eyelets and strap damage are routinely repaired by welding a PVC patch over a cleaned and prepared area, then reinforcing the surrounding panel.
A well-executed repair restores tension and weatherproofing at a fraction of the cost of a new curtain, and returns the vehicle to service far sooner.
When replacement makes more sense
If the fabric is chalked and brittle from UV, if there are many overlapping repairs, or if the tear runs across most of a panel, replacing the affected panel — or the full curtain — is usually the better commercial decision.
